Aussie Geelong Football Club The Cat has officially signed a sponsorship deal with Australian FX Broker Pepperstone for marketing benefits.
The Cats, a professional Australian football club based in Geelong, Victoria, has appointed Pepperstone as its official online financial trading partner. The partnership will see the Pepperstone branding appear on matchday signage in the players' warm-up area, on LED screens at all home games, and on static signage at GMHBA Stadium.
The Cats are the second oldest club in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's main competition after Melbourne, founded in 1859. Meanwhile, Pepperstone is a multi-regulated forex brokerage firm that besides the ASIC regulation, also holds licenses from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), BaFin Germany, and FCA UK.
Sports sponsorship has long allowed the Australian broker to expand wider. This deal is also a more standard sponsorship deal with a wider range of sports, such as football and rugby. However, in recent months, there have also been many sponsorship deals related to low-end sports, including chess and esports. So, the sponsorship of The Cats is the latest example of the growing trend of football clubs signing up FX brokers as they seek to gain an edge in player trading.
As this practice has become a trend, sports sponsorship, especially popular sports celebrities, is still the preferred marketing strategy by brokers operating in the online Forex and crypto business.
