Starting from April 10, clients of OANDA Europe, OANDA Canada, and OANDA Asia Pacific can create a new MT4 hedging compatible sub-account.

In the forex industry, hedging has been a point of contention among traders, brokers, and regulators alike. It has as many fans as oppositions, with US regulator explicitly forbid the use of the strategy in trading. However, it does not necessarily mean that no broker would encourage the use of Hedging, as proven by how OANDA recently introduced MT4 Hedging Compatibility.

OANDA hedging

Starting from April 10, clients of OANDA Europe, OANDA Canada, and OANDA Asia Pacific can create a new MT4 hedging compatible sub-account, or enable hedging compatibility in an existing MT4 sub-account that has no existing open positions via the Funds Management System. Afterward, the client's OANDA MT4 Platform will show a simulation of long and short positions for the same instrument, while fxTrade transaction system and platform will continue recording the actual floating position and other account informations. As such, OANDA MT4 Hedging Compatibility will enable clients to use hedging-based Expert Advisors and run multiple EAs at the same time without worrying about them conflicting. The feature will later be available also for clients of OANDA Australia and OANDA Japan.
