To reduce plastic bottle waste and make it easier for everyone to reuse and refill their water bottles on the go, the environmental volunteer organization Let's Make Cyprus Green launched their eco-friendly program in the Dasoudi area of Limassol.
The area got its water refill station this week, the fourth water station installed as part of the Cyprus Refill project.
About 12,500 bottles have been stored in the 12 months since the installation of the first water station.
NGO has also successfully installed four water stations on the popular coastal walkway through voluntary efforts and sponsorships from Exness and has also received approval to install ten more in various towns across the island. The newest addition to this project is a water station on the Dasoudi coastal promenade, next to the Famagusta Maritime Club.
Exness, as the sole sponsor of the project, together with the Yermasoyia city government, contributed water and electricity. Meanwhile, Makedonas sponsored cleaning and maintenance, and Karma provided three water filter changes.
The water station was inaugurated at the event, which was attended by all sponsors, including Yermasoyia Mayor, Kyriakos Xydias, who expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
Participants receive a reusable water bottle as a prize and are encouraged to fill it at the water station. Eleni Kazelas, Founder of Let's Make Cyprus Green, said he hopes everyone starts reducing, reusing, and refilling at this location.
