Swissquote, through their social media, announced that they would take action by removing fraudulent domains that could potentially carry out phishing.
The current rampant phishing attempts have made Swissquote, an online trading company based in Switzerland, issues a warning to its clients.
Phishing is an attack that attempts to steal a person's money, or identity, by getting that person to reveal personal information. Phishing attacks may seek illegal access to credit card numbers, bank information, or passwords through websites that pretend to be legitimate.
The website, at swissquotes.de, is actually for a firm calling itself "Swissquotes" (that is, with an extra "s" at the end) and has nothing to do with the actual Swissquote.
Swissquote officially announced the danger of phishing notifications for its clients through social media. In the announcement, the company said it had taken steps to remove potentially phishing fraudulent domains.
"Be on the lookout: A phishing campaign is currently targeting our users, and we have taken steps to remove any known fraudulent domains used by the attacker"
To lure investors, potentially phishing clone websites will usually abuse the data of authorized businesses. So it is essential that you check the identity of the websites you visit and not click on random links.
In 2020, to eradicate phishing activity, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) issued a warning regarding the Swissquote clone site, which has targeted retail traders in the UK.
