ICMarkets to adjust trading hours for several assets due to Memorial Day 2022. Changes from regular trading hours are shown below.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is closed for nine holidays in 2022, and the Nasdaq Stock Market follows a similar schedule. One such holiday is Memorial Day. Memorial Day is an American holiday, always falling on the last Monday of May, to honor the men and women who died while serving in the US military. Memorial Day 2022 will fall on Monday, May 30.
Known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day began years after the Civil War and has been an official federal holiday since 1971. Many Americans celebrate Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades because informally, the day also serves as the beginning of summer.
US stock markets, including the Dow Jones, NASDAQ, and NYSE, as well as bond markets, will be closed. Markets reopen on Tuesday, May 31 for trading as usual.
Because Memorial Day is one of eleven recognized federal holidays in the United States, all non-essential federal government offices will be closed, including federal banks and the post office. As a result, commercial banks and other financial institutions may close or have changed their opening hours.
