As Midsummer's Eve this year falls on Friday, 24th June, ICMarket trading schedule will also change for SE30 index.

Australian-based broker, ICMarkets, to adjust its trading schedule during the Midsummer’s Eve holiday in Sweden. Midsummer's Eve, or in Swedish as Midsommarafton and Midsommar is a holiday that celebrates the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere during the summer solstice. Sweden is a national holiday second only to Christmas, observed on Fridays between 19 and 25 June. Midsummer Evenings in Sweden involve gathering around flower-adorned flower poles (majstång) to singing and dancing, an ancient custom that may be linked to fertility rituals.

On that day, all Swedes go to the countryside and make Midsummer wreaths, followed by lunch of pickled herring with potatoes, fennel, and scallions, drinking nubbe (vodka schnapps), and dancing around a tall pole adorned with fresh flowers.

At some point, Christian church authorities also set June 24 as the birthday of St. John the Baptist who predicted the birth of Christ (which would happen 6 months later in the calendar) and then baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. Celebrations with bonfires, bathing in water, and watching the sun rise take on both secular and religious symbolism, giving everyone a reason to celebrate.
