The magnitude 5.6 earthquake that hit the Cianjur district in West Java has left as many as 7,500 injured and at least 62,000 people potentially homeless. These conditions have made the international broker OctaFX partner with the IDEP Foundation to assist West Java, Indonesia, earthquake victims.
The earthquake on November 21, 2022, damaged 58,049 houses, hundreds of public facilities, and communication networks, prompting the government to declare a state of emergency for one month, valid until December 20, 2022.
Armed with assistance from OctaFX and several other donors, IDEP provided medical assistance and distributed basic necessities to residents of Cugenang Village and neighboring villages nearby evacuation centers.
212 families will receive food packages and household cleaning supplies, and 1,294 people will receive medical assistance for the emergency relief project. Professional psychologists will provide psychological first aid, mental health support, and individual counseling for 1,099 people.
In addition, IDEP is also supporting twenty emergency shelters and one Satellite Emergency Response Unit, as well as building four public kitchens to support people living in evacuation centers.
Recovery from this disaster is far from complete. However, the joint efforts of the MetaTrader broker and the IDEP Foundation have helped lay the foundation for the successful rehabilitation of the Cianjur District.
