Based on his LinkedIn profile, Blaafalk's career in the financial services industry started in 1980 at Copenhagen-based Danske Bank. He served the company for more than 33 years, climbing the corporate ladder to become CEO, then Senior Exec VP, and Head of Group Treasury.

Despite his retirement, Blaafalk said he would not step down from his current directorship. Blaafalk has been with Saxo for the last nine years, having joined the Danish brokerage as Chief Financial and Risk Officer in 2014. He is also a board member of Milan-based Saxo Bank Switzerland and BG Saxo.
