OctaFX and AWARD hold emergency aid donations for 250 Pakistani families in Taunsa Tehsil village that were struck by a flood.

Global broker OctaFX in collaboration with the Association for Women's Awareness and Rural Development (AWARD) distributed emergency assistance to 250 families in Taunsa, Pakistan, which were hit by floods between August 15 and September 14, 2022.

In order to reduce the negative impact of the flood, AWARD and the tier-1 regulated company prepared emergency assistance in the form of distributing food packages to eight affected villages. The package includes basic necessities such as rice, wheat flour, tea, biscuits, granulated sugar, cooking oil, seeds, and clean drinking water.

As a result of the intensive monsoons due to climate change, Pakistan experienced the largest flash floods in history, with the loss of life of more than 1000 people, and affecting at least 33 million inhabitants. With more than 700,000 head of livestock washed away and 3.6 million hectares of crops destroyed, Pakistan is already facing food shortages and soaring prices.

In Taunsa Tehsil, flooding hit eight mauzas (villages), destroying up to 8000 houses, and submerging the area under 5-6 feet of water. Local residents and the government are evacuating people from the district in order to be able to provide shelter in nearby schools or government camps.

"When we heard about the disaster, we instantly tried finding ways to help those who suffered from the flooding in Pakistan. Our long-standing partner AWARD proposed an emergency plan to provide aid to those who lost their homes and livelihoods. Immediately we started cooperation, hoping to alleviate the dire situation 250 families—approximately 1500 people—found themselves in," the OctaFX press office commented.
