Raw spread brokers can offer you the best price in the market in exchange for a commission fee. cTrader is often regarded as the right platform to facilitate it.

Ever wonder why brokers' prices are different than the market price? That's because most brokers are making money by marking up the prices of the assets through the spread. If you don't like this idea, perhaps using a broker that offers raw spread is the best. This account allows you to access the actual prices in the market without any markup from the broker. There is a lot of raw spread brokers nowadays, some of them use cTrader to better ensure their raw spread offering.

Why Choose cTrader?

Some of you might have heard about cTrader before. This platform is not a new player in the industry. Developed by the Spotware System, cTrader is a great platform is the transparent price quote transmitted by DoM (Depth of Market) within its system. There are three DoM modes to pick, VWAP DoM, Standard DoM, and Price DoM. Each gives you different market insights and precisions to small detail such as different price quotes for different volume sizes and availability of liquidity for each level or price quotes. The DoM mode in cTrader allows users to get a different spread according to the amount of traded lots. This is why cTrader is favored by scalpers and traders with big trading sizes.

All live data feed in cTrader is sent directly from the interbank, so it's unlikely to be faked. Meanwhile, within the MT4 platform, the data clarity solely depends on the broker's honesty. Another reason why you should consider cTrader is because this platform integrated itself with many liquidity aggregators to make sure there are no requotes. That way the spread is relatively guaranteed to reflect the market's actual conditions.

cTrader is also packed with helpful indicators as well as plenty of trading tools to give its users the best trading experiences. Fundamental traders can benefit from in-app news and event updates within this platform.

The Best Raw Spread Broker

Nowadays there are plenty of brokers offering raw spread accounts. Aside from providing cTrader in their platform setlist, these brokers also have tons of unique features that you can gain benefits from.

1. IC Markets

IC Markets is one of the best raw spread brokers providing cTrader and raw spread. In fact, they are the pioneer who popularized the "raw spread" term. Their raw account offers a competitive spread starting from 0 pips. The commission fee is not too expensive, starting from $3.00 per standard lot. IC Markets pricing connector aggregates up to 25 different prices providers, to make sure clients will get the best price available, and to keep the spread tight even during high volatility.

If you are looking for a broker with low to no slippage, IC Markets is also a good place to start with. They utilize the LD5 IBX Equinix Data Centre in London to ensure the lowest latency and fastest possible executions for clients.

There are no trading restrictions on IC Market's cTrader platform, which means they allow scalping and high-frequency trading globally. This includes placing stop orders as close to the market price as you like. You can also hedge positions as there are no first in first out rules as well.

Another reason why you should consider this ASIC-regulated broker is their market depth that shows the full range of executable prices directly from their price aggregator. You can also benefit from the Smart Stop Out logic in cTrader, that is designed to provide maximum protection to traders' account. IC Markets make sure to give the best possible customer service and support should you encounter any problem with your trading experience.

IC Markets is an online forex broker operating under the company of International Capital Markets Pty Ltd. Traders under the Australian jurisdiction are provided with the trading service of IC Markets AU that is headquartered in Australia and licensed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

On the other hand, non-Australian traders who open an account in this broker are registered under IC Markets SEY that is based in Seychelles, and regulated under the Seychelles Financial Services Authority (SFSA). The dual operation is a result of the relatively new rules from ASIC that prohibit their regulated broker to offer trading services outside Australia.

Classified as an ECN broker, IC Markets provide clients with MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader as platform trading options. This broker also follows market trends to include Cryptocurrencies as one of its products, enriching its already wide selection of trading assets that include Currencies, Indices, Metals, Energies, Softs, Stocks, as well as Bonds.

The minimum deposit in IC Markets is in the middle range compared to other ASIC-regulated brokers, as it reaches $200 for every client. Market analysis materials are also prepared regularly for trading insights on IC Markets's official website, proving their competence to serve their traders with important contents created by market experts that work specifically for them.

For payment methods, IC Markets allows funding and withdrawal via wire transfer, credit card, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, FasaPay, UnionPay, as well as Bitcoin via BitPay. The more interesting aspect from this broker is its multi-base currencies that include USD, AUD, EUR, GBP, SGD, NZD, JPY, CHF, HKD, and CAD.

As the trading technology in IC Markets is highly equipped with co-located servers and extremely low latency (especially on cTrader), the broker is widely known for its capability in hosting traders with the special needs for high-frequency trading as well as scalping.

To sum up, IC Markets is a fitting destination for active traders looking for a well-regulated broker. IC Markets is also flexible in terms of base currency and payment methods, signaling their commitment to welcome traders beyond their home country. As of late 2019, IC Markets provided their website in 18 international languages including English, Korean, Indonesian, French, Spanish, Italian, Malay, German, and Chinese.

2. Pepperstone

Pepperstone is one of the largest raw spread brokers with more than 300,000 traders around the world. Their raw spread account is also known as Razor account with spread as low as 0 pips. Another unique feature to consider is social trading. You can copy trades from popular traders using third-party services while learning how to improve your own skill. Pepperstone partnered with a range of social trading platforms such as Myfxbook and DupliTrade to help you access strategies from the world's best traders.

After Thought

Sometimes a broker might offer a different ask and bid price compared to what the market offers. New traders might be taken aback by the price difference, and think that they are being scammed. But what actually happens is they are being charged a markup (or spread) on the price of the instrument being traded.

Pair Exness IC Markets FXTM ThinkMarkets
EUR/USD 0.0 0.1 0.1 1.8
GBP/USD 0.0 0.1 0.2 3.0
USD/JPY 0.0 0.0 0.3 2.0

Meanwhile, a raw spread account enables traders to access the real market price of each instrument, giving them the best deal possible. In exchange, the broker will charge them a commission fee. Generally, this is one of the best account types for scalpers or traders who are looking for a cheaper price. To ensure the quality, brokers offering raw spread also provide cTrader as an optional platform.

Here is a side-by-side comparison to help you decide the best cTrader broker offering raw spread:

Now, I know that IC Markets is an Australian broker and I happen to understand that they offer Indices as well. I wonder if they also provide Australian indices for trading? I would be particularly interested in trading this. However, I also hope that IC Markets have a low spread for this as well. Another broker tends to have ridiculous spreads and I don't want that for sure.

Does the Islamic account have the same features as other account types (aside from the overnight fees)? For example, how much leverage can I get with the Islamic account? Also, does this account also offers low or raw spread as well? As a side note, while I am not a Muslim, is it possible for me to apply for this account? I feel like most brokers provide an Islamic account to cater to Muslims, and I am not sure if I am allowed to apply.

I don't understand, earlier this week I got a margin call. I was trading gold and I am pretty sure I was in a profitable position. When I realize I got a margin call I was so surprised. So I checked what was going on and I realize that the price is not the standard price as other brokers. Why is the price not the same as another broker's? Also, I did place a pending order and a stop-loss order but it did not trigger. Was it my fault? I am pretty sure I placed it, I always did every time I open a position.
